ABOUT
Born in Novo Mesto, Slovenia in 1987
Lives and works in Berlin since 2012
I make work about care, the repetitive, largely invisible labor of keeping a home and the people in it going. I make it from inside that labor, as a mother, for whom it has never been an abstraction.
Care is usually treated as a feeling. I treat it as work: work that falls mostly to women, goes unpaid, and is simply expected. Drawing on feminist thinking about domestic and emotional labor, I ask how that arrangement comes to feel normal, how it settles into a house, a body, the ordinary shape of a day.
I work with textiles, household objects, scent, and sound, building installations and performances where things accumulate. Materials are stacked, woven, layered until the accumulation itself becomes the subject, and the viewer is drawn into the overwhelm it produces, overwhelm that isn't incidental but built in. The materials hold, restrain, and outlast. So do the bodies shaped by them.
