Dear Sister, is a spoken testimony delivered from a podium at the centre of Re-Sister, a multimedia installation at Y Gallery, Ljubljana.

The performance takes the form of a letter that is also a legal record. In flat, precise language, it enters into evidence the curriculum every woman is taught before she can consent to it: to sit smaller, to want less, to serve first and speak last, to call silence maturity and accommodation love. The letter names this training not as violence but as something quieter and harder to refuse, transmitted through the women who came before, carefully, so the next one would not get hurt.

The piece draws on Sara Ahmed's figure of the feminist killjoy: the woman who spoils the atmosphere by saying the thing that was supposed to remain unspoken. Dear Sister, refuses the consolations of the healing narrative. It does not perform feeling, because the refusal to perform feeling is itself the political act. It does not offer resolution, because the system it describes does not dissolve when it is finally named aloud.

When the testimony ends, the artist leaves. The room continues to speak. The recorded voices in the walls go on, the heartbeat goes on, and the wound persists, because a system sustained by those it shapes does not collapse the moment one of them stops complying.
